Dear Friend,
I wanted to give you an update about my work in Congress. I remain focused on rebuilding our economy, creating jobs, and providing businesses and families with tax relief.
Earlier this month, I joined my colleague, Congressman Patrick Murphy, to call on Congressional leaders to block a pay raise for Members of Congress. During these tough economic times and at a time of record deficits, Congress should make the tough choices and stop automatic pay raises for Members of Congress. I hope you take a moment to read the Burlington County Editorial on the issue.
In January, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that I would be introducing a bi-partisan bill to provide a one-time $250 Social Security payment to senior citizens and disabled veterans to make up for the lack of a cost-of-living adjustment in benefits this year. It is critical that we support our seniors and veterans, and I am thrilled with the feedback I have received on this bill in Congress and in New Jersey.
In the past year, I’ve held more than 75 open town hall meetings. I also announced a new series of town halls focused on rebuilding our economy and supporting small businesses. I hope to bring information to small business owners across South Jersey, and also collect ideas from those hard-working Americans that know the specific hurdles facing our small business economy. I hope to see you at one.
With my reelection in less than nine months, there are plenty of negative attacks coming from my opponents. Together, we will ensure that my record of helping middle class families and small businesses is heard.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
John Adler
Member of Congress
